Areas We Serve

Flexible Systems Est. 1985

In the early days of our business, back in the 80s, our service area was limited by geography. Thats because back then, service calls and face-to-face meetings required an onsite visit. Thanks to advances in technology, that is no longer the case. We now deliver highquality managed IT services to our clients and their employees located throughout the United States.

Technology Transforms Space & Time

In this amazing Video dating back to 1964, Arthur C. Clarke predicted that by 2014, “almost any executive skill, any administrative skill, even any physical skill could be performed independent of distance.” A bold prediction that, for all intents and purposes, has come to fruition. What follows is a brief overview of how technology shrank time and space and enabled us to serve our clients better.

Stand Alone Computers / Dial-up Modems

When Flexible Systems was founded in 1985, it was shortly after the debut of the original IBM PC. The communication technology of the time was dial-up modems. Unfortunately, due to their high cost and slow speed, modems were not a great way to provide customer support. From the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, most of the work we did required an onsite visit. Our service area was limited by the time it took to travel to a client’s location.

Since most of our clients were on Long Island or in New York City, we decided to set up shop at 535 Broadhollow Road in Melville, New York. Melville’s location in western Suffolk County near the Nassau County border put us within an hour’s drive of the key commercial areas on Long Island and New York City. At that time, most of our clients were nearby in Deer Park, Farmingdale, Garden City, Hauppauge, Lake Success, Manhattan (via the Long Island Rail Road), Melville, Mineola, Queens, Syosset, and Westbury.

LANS / WANS / Broadband / The Internet

At the beginning of the new millennium, communication technology improved, and businesses were getting connected to the Internet. The internal was no longer a tool for just academics and computer enthusiasts. It suddenly became an integral part of the business world. The improved technology allowed us to provide services without leaving our office. We could now connect to our clients remotely to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly without leaving our office. Perhaps more importantly, we could proactively manage, patch, and monitor computers, servers, switches, and firewalls. Our clients welcomed these changes because their bills were lower, they had fewer service issues, and their problems were resolved faster.

When you need IT done right.

Cloud Computing

Conceptually the Cloud began in the mid-1990s. In the mid-2000s, the Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services became mainstream, and the world shrank even more. The Cloud made it possible for businesses to move their equipment and applications off-premises into secure hosted environments. By definition, everything in the Cloud is managed remotely. The Cloud also enabled people to work from anywhere.

As Cloud computing came on the scene, it was a catalyst for digital transformation. The Cloud allowed us to transition our business from a break-fix field service operation to a managed service provider (MSP). As an MSP, travel time to our clients became much less of a constraint. For that reason, in 2001, we relocated our office to the Hauppauge Industrial park, a location that was much more convenient for our employees.

Video Conferencing

Video conferencing technology has been around for a while but was never widely adopted. That all changed during the pandemic when ZOOM and Microsoft Teams became the goto mechanisms for meetings and collaboration. Flexible Systems uses Video conferencing for meetings, training, and providing technical support. The technology makes it easier to communicate and saves time, and money. Video conferencing has shrunk the world even more as it allows for face-to-face meetings with our clients anywhere across the country.

We Are a Brick and Morter Business

At Flexible Systems, we believe a local physical presence is still important. That’s because not all IT support services can be done remotely. Certain tasks require us to be onsite. For our clients in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut getting to your location is easy. We’ll travel to you for major projects, and for clients in other states, we have arrangements with partners to handle minor issues like printer repairs.

Our office is on Long Island at 290 Motor Pkwy in Hauppauge, New York. Most of our employees live within an hour’s drive of the office. However, some of our employees work remotely from other parts of the country. Our entire team consists of full-time employees based in the United States.

We love our clients, they love us back!
