New York State Cyber Security Regulations

New York State is the first state in the nation to impose cyber security regulations (23 NYCRR PART 500) on banks, insurance companies, and certain other business in the financial industry.

The new regulations outline the things companies are required to do to protect their customer’s data from hackers and guidelines for how and when security breaches must be disclosed to the state. The laws are complicated and unfortunately, not being aware of them is not a defense. Please take the first step below to find out if your company is a covered entity.
